What You Should Know About Rebuilding Your Credit After Bankruptcy

The question I am asked a lot by my clients after filing bankruptcy is: “What is going to happen to my credit after I finish the bankruptcy?” Most of my clients who have gone through a bankruptcy, whether it be a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, tell me that after discharge they are able to rebuild their credit (as long as they don’t get into any more financial trouble). What I mean by that is, as long as they pay the debts that they keep on time and they don’t become delinquent on any other debts, their credit will rebuild itself naturally. It takes about two years before you are eligible to buy things again after bankruptcy.
